Facebook "Likes Race" Rule Updates

The following rules and procedures will apply to the "Facebook 400 Likes" SUPER Event, and override ANYTHING listed in the "Tuning Update"

  • FOUR HEAT RACES THIS WEEK. SEE SCHEDULE FOR DETAILS

  • THIS IS ONE OF OUR RARE FIXED SET UP EVENTS. SET UP WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE IN ALL OFFICIAL PRACTICES

  • WE WILL BE QUICK TO BLACK FLAG, DISQUALIFY, AND REMOVE CARS THAT DISAPPEAR FOR SEVERAL HUNDRED FEET OF TRACK. EVERYONE BLINKS SOMETIMES. IF YOU ARE GONE MORE THAN YOU ARE ON TRACK, PENALTIES WILL FOLLOW

  • Cautions will be thrown by RACECONTROL only

The criteria for a yellow to be displayed is as follows:  When a car is stopped, or deemed to be out of control, and in the path of oncoming traffic, on the racing surface, the yellow will be displayed. Additionally cars stopped at the entrance / exit to pit road may be reason to throw a yellow. RACECONTROL will make that call.

The yellow will NOT be displayed to "catch a driver back up" or "help drivers get laps back".

(This was a successful rule change made last week. Michigan is a much larger track and we will have turn marshals to watch various areas on the speedway and relay information to RACECONTROL, who will then determine if a yellow needs to be displayed. A wreck in the back of the pack will likely not trigger a yellow unless more cars are heading towards it.)

  • Mandatory Practice is NOT required this week.

36 Hours of practice will still be made available by XCAL Racing per the tuning update and will be hosted by Petey J Zehler.

This week each one will be a 1 or 2 hour block of practice/qualifying and a fake race to give drivers experience in a big pack. These fake races will NOT be administered, and will have NO yellows. It's just a different form of practice for a different type of event.

  • Double file restarts this week with LAPPED CARS TO THE BACK

  • We will be using the iRacing Lucky Dog ONLY this week

  • Fuel cap INCREASED to 30%

(In the future, tracks this size can certainly handle multiple waves, and as long as we keep seeing cars get lined up quickly with minimal extensions we will be able to have those in races to come. If some cars do get trapped, or it appears something is amiss with the front of the pack we will restart with what iRacing gives us. At 2 miles in length we do not want to have to extend cautions trying to "fix" what we think iRacing may have broken. More often than not, iRacing actually has it right, and by the time everyone crosses the line and gets updated, the changes that we think need to be made are now incorrect. Let's keep each other on the same page under yellow and mic up only to get the cars lined up.)

To facilitate additional race strategy we have elected to set the fuel cell to 30%. We understand its not always the fastest car that wins a race. We like strategy.

  • Self spins that trigger a yellow will result in a black flag and and one strike penalty.

XCAL is doing its best to provide great events and great fields. If a driver can not maintain control over their own car, we will not show mercy.

(We intend on cleaning house early if we need to. If we can remove as many problems as possible as soon as possible we might have a better event)

WHAT WE NEED FROM THE DRIVERS

  • CONTINUE PAYING ATTENTION DURING YELLOWS. LAST WEEK WAS BETTER, LETS KEEP THAT UP. DO NOT TRY TO "UNDERSTAND" WHAT IRACING IS TELLING YOU TO DO. JUST DO IT. THERE IS NO NEGOTIATION.

  • CONTINUE TO PASS CARS ON THE OUTSIDE AD REMAIN LOW WHEN BEING TOLD TO LET CARS BY.

  • BE AWARE OF THE ENTRANCE AND EXIT LOCATION TO PIT ROAD.

  • OBEY THE PIT ENTER AND EXIT RULES

  • DRIVER CHAT NEEDS TO BE LIMITED TO LISTENING TO YOUR SPOTTER AND RACECONTROL. MUTING RACECONTROL IS A BIG "NO-NO". WE OFFER THE DISCORD SO DRIVERS CAN DISCUS NECESSARY RACE RELATED TOPICS IN PRIVATE CHANNELS THAT DON'T INTERFERE WITH OTHERS. WE GO BACK AND WATCH THEIR LIVE STREAMS AND THEY CARE MORE ABOUT PUTTING ON A SHOW OR DISCUSSING TOPICS THAT ARE JUST A DISTRACTION. THIS IS FOLLOWED BY OTHER DRIVERS COMPLAINING THAT SAID LIVE-STREAMER IS NOT WHERE THEY SHOULD BE IN THE LINE UP.

  • STOP ANTICIPATING THE RESTART. YOU ALL KNOW YOU CAN'T PASS BEFORE THE LINE. YOU ALL KNOW YOU CAN'T GO UNTIL THE CAR IN FRONT OF YOU GOES, AND YOU ALL KNOW THAT A TIGHT FIELD WILL LEAD TO A SAFER RESTART. IF YOU WANT TO ANTICIPATE SOMETHING, ANTICIPATE THE CAR 4 ROWS IN FRONT OF YOU MISSING A SHIFT AND YOU HAVING TO ADJUST YOUR SPEED ACCORDINGLY.

  • LOOK AS FAR AHEAD ON THE TRACK AS YOU CAN UNDER CAUTION. IF THE FIELD DOES CHECK UP, IT SHOULDN'T BE A SURPRISE. YOU SHOULD SEE THE CHECK UP COMING BACK TOWARDS YOU AND SLOW A LITTLE AHEAD OF TIME. CAUTION MEANS BE CAUTIOUS  IRACING USED TO HAVE VIRTUAL TRACK CREWS, BUT THEY ARE ALL DEAD NOW BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE NOT PAYING ATTENTION.

  • START USING PRACTICE WISER. WE GOT GUYS TURNING 500 HOT LAPS EACH WEEK. DO YOU THINK THE ENTIRE EVENT IS GOING GREEN? GET INTO PRACTICE WITH TEAM MATES, FRIENDS, AND THE OTHER XCALIANS AND PRACTICE RUNNING SIDE BY SIDE, OR 3 WIDE. HIT THE DAMN WALL, BEND A WHEEL AND DRIVE 40 LAPS ON THE OUTSIDE LINE AND SEE HOW IT FEELS. PRACTICE THINGS THAT COULD ACTUALLY HAPPEN ON RACE DAY, OR YOU MIGHT AS WELL PRACTICE PACING.
